History

A Brief History

St. Anthony’s is a Catholic Maintained Primary School in Northern Ireland with an enrolment of 607 children, and 27 teaching staff. We have been in existence since the new city of Craigavon was founded in 1970. The present building is comparatively new, the previous building having been demolished in the explosion which happened on 12th Dec. 1991.

Back in the seventies, the school catered for the families in many neighbouring estates. Many of these estates have since been demolished but our intake has remained consistently high due to parental demand from other areas. There is currently much new residential development within the catchment area of the school.

We have two excellent nursery settings and a reception class as well as two Learning Support Units for children with Moderate Learning Difficulty.

Of particular importance is the school committment to providing a value-driven education with a Christian ethos, affirmed by strong parish and community links. In other words we believe in self discipline, high standards, being kind towards one another and sharing our friendship.
